A bit of summary of Maharajganj District:
The District of Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, which came into existence on 2nd October, 1989, is located at the Indo-Nepal border. In the north it borders with Nepal, in the south with Gorakhpur District, in the east is Padrauna District and in the west is Siddharth Nagar. The total area of district is 2934.1 sq. km., of which 11.59% area is covered by forest.
According to the 2011 census Maharajganj District has a population of 2,665,292. For those a bit unfamiliar with the size, the population is roughly equal to the nation of Kuwait or Nevada (USA).
In 2006 the Ministry of Panchayati Raj named Maharajganj District one of the country's 250 most backward districts. There are 640 districts in India. The district needs help. It is one of the 34 districts in Uttar Pradesh currently receiving funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGF).
